Child Protection Policy

Statement

At Edge Dance Studios we recognize that the safety and welfare of our members is of paramount importance. We are committed to providing safe and inclusive dance environment to all regardless of age, gender, creed, ability, class or race.

Children and young people will be treated with respect at all times. Members have the right to equal protection from harm or abuse, mentally, emotionally, sexually or virtually.

Members of staff adhere to CLRG and RAD code of conduct. All teaching staff and assisting members are Garda vetted and cleared before interaction or participation in classes, summer programs or back stage at show time.

Members of staff hold current First Aid and Safe Guarding certificates that are updated annually.

The aim of Edge Dance Studios is to ensure that all students experience dance in a fun, friendly, positive and safe environment. In order to achieve this, please take note of the following guidelines.

Attendance:  Regular attendance is extremely important. If students do not attend on a regular basis, then the development of the class and the individual student will be affected. Students’ attendance will be monitored as they prepare for their examinations, competitions or performances and those who fail to attend classes and additional lessons may be withdrawn. 

Punctuality :It is vital that students arrive in good time. Those arriving late for class they may miss important information and impede the learning of others.

Discipline: Pupils are expected to behave in an orderly, civilised and well-mannered way, when entering,leaving and participating in dance class and to show respect to their teachers, assistants and other students. Failure to comply with the rules and regulations may result in withdrawal. Bullying is not tolerated at the Edge Dance Studios.


 

Uniform: It is extremely important that students arrive dressed and ready for class in full Dance School uniform in order to be able to work correctly and safely in class, and to avoid distractions untidy hair presents. Dance School tracksuits can be purchased from the shop and are suitable to wear to and from classes and for class warm up. 

Drop off/collection: Parents and guardians are asked to drop off students directly before the start of their class. Dance school students are only responsible for members during the allocated time of the lesson.


Personal Property : Students should make sure that they keep their personal belongings with them at all times. Valuable items should be left at home. Edge Dance Studios cannot be held responsible if items go missing

Data Protection:  Staff members are not at liberty to disclose any information relating to other Dance School students or parents. Student information is confidential and retained in accordance with GDPR regulations.

Health and Safety: Dance shoes are essential when taking class with Edge Dance Studios due to health and safety reasons. Water only is permitted in dance class for reasons of food allergies. Water bottles to be labelled and stored upright during class to avoid mix up or spillages. If a student feels unwell during or before class they must notify the teacher immediately. 

Safeguarding: Edge Dance Studios have a ‘duty’ of care’ to provide a safe environment for and to promote the health and well-being of children under the age of 18 years and vulnerable adults. We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults is embedded in our contact with them through the training and activities we provide.
